Questions about this Mississauga house
Was the house finished when the photos were taken?
No. Both floors were clad, but the fascia was bare wood, the balcony edge over the porch was open framing and the lot was still under snow.
How much cheaper is stucco than stone on the upper floor?
Stucco or EIFS runs $8 to $16 per square foot installed. Stone veneer runs $35 to $45 and natural stone $45 to $60, so midpoint to midpoint stone is roughly four times the price.
Can stone or stucco go on in winter?
Mortar-set stone needs above-freezing temperatures, so our stone season runs roughly April to November. Stucco base and finish coats keep to the same months.
Can you add stone to a house that already has stucco?
Yes. The stucco comes off only where the stone will sit; new lath, flashing and a weep screed go in there, and the rest of the wall is left alone.
