Caulking questions from homeowners
How do I know my caulking has failed?
Look for a crack across the bead, sealant pulled away from one side, a hard brittle texture or staining below the joint. Original builder caulk on a house that is 10–15 years old is usually due.
How much does it cost to caulk a whole house?
Most homes run $800–$2,500, depending on the window count, the total joint length and how high we work. Single runs are priced at $6–$12 per linear foot.
When is the best time of year to recaulk?
Fall. Sealant installed in mid-range temperatures flexes evenly in summer and winter, and the wall goes into freeze-up sealed.
Do you do caulking without other stucco work?
Yes. Sealant renewal is a job on its own, and it is also part of every stucco repair and refinish we do.
