Which jobs the City of Brampton wants to hear about first

From the City's own pages, checked in October 2026. The Building Division decides for your address.

No permit on the City's list

  • Painting or decorating, which covers repainting a stucco wall.
  • Eavestrough that drains onto your own property.
  • Both are on the City's page of work that needs no building permit.

Ask the Building Division

  • New cladding. The City lists siding on a small residential building as exempt "depending on the distance between the building and the property line".
  • An addition. A permit is required for any residential addition, and the Mature Neighbourhood Area (roughly Steeles to Bovaird, Chinguacousy Road to Torbram) has extra standards for additions of 50 square metres or more.

Churchville

  • The village in the Credit River valley has been a heritage conservation district since 1990.
  • The City has a separate Churchville heritage permit application. Talk to heritage staff before an exterior there is changed.

Do you take stucco jobs in Brampton?
Yes. We are based in Oakville and work across Halton, Peel, the City of Toronto and York Region, and Brampton is in Peel. The site visit is free and you get one fixed price in writing afterwards.
Do I need a building permit to stucco my house in Brampton?
It depends on the job and on your lot. The City of Brampton lists painting as work that needs no permit, and it lists siding on a small residential building as exempt depending on the distance between the building and the property line. Any residential addition needs a permit. The Building Division answers this for your address at 905.874.2401.
When in the year can stucco work be done?
Finishing coats go on from April to November. Base coats and finish coats need steady temperatures above freezing to cure. Site visits and written quotes happen all year.
