How long does a stucco-safe coating last?

Quality breathable acrylics and elastomerics last 15–20 years on a sound wall — and unlike ordinary paint they fail by slow fading, not peeling, so the next recoat is simple preparation instead of stripping.

Can you change my stucco colour dramatically?

Yes — dark-to-light and light-to-dark are both routine, though very dark colours on sun-exposed EIFS need heat-reflective formulations to limit thermal stress. We’ll confirm your shortlist works on your walls, then sample it on the actual surface.

Do you fix cracks before painting?

Always — coating over cracks is the classic shortcut that fails in one winter. Repairs come first, cure properly, and then coating goes on. It’s the reason a stucco contractor paints stucco better than a painting crew.

What’s the cost difference between coating and refinishing?

Coating typically runs $6–$10 per square foot; a full acrylic re-finish $12–$18. We recommend coating when the finish is sound and refinishing when it isn’t — and we show you the surface evidence behind the recommendation.

Stucco painting questions we get

Why did my last stucco paint job peel?

Ordinary exterior paint forms a film that stops the wall drying outward. Moisture builds up behind it and pushes it off, so the failed paint has to come off before anything new goes on.

Can I paint EIFS or acrylic stucco?

We do not put ordinary house paint on it. The finish is coloured all the way through, so when the colour has aged out we apply a new tinted finish coat instead.

How long does a new acrylic finish keep its colour?

On our acrylic exteriors the tint runs through the material, and the walls keep their tone for 20–30 years without repainting.

Can you change the colour of just one wall?

On sun-faded acrylic finishes a perfect match on one small patch is not possible, so we usually refinish to the nearest control joint or corner, where the change does not show.
