What a wall needs depends on where it stands

The system is the same everywhere; the details we spend the most time on change with the exposure.

Along Lake Ontario

Mimico, Long Branch, Port Credit, Bronte, south Burlington

Rain blows in off the lake and winter temperatures cross freezing more often, so south-west walls fail first. We put the effort into sealant joints, flashing and window heads.

Inland York Region

Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Oak Ridges

Winters are colder and steadier with deeper frost, so movement and expansion do the damage. Control-joint layout and the base of the wall get the attention; in Unionville the heritage district also sets design controls on exteriors.

Escarpment edge

West Milton, north Burlington

Exposed west and north-west elevations take more wind-driven rain than a sheltered subdivision lot. Sealant and flashing on those sides are detailed tighter.

Older Toronto streets

High Park, Roncesvalles, Leaside

Semis on narrow lots often have no side access, so material is carried in by hand. Much of the work is parging and stucco on party walls and rear walls over century brick, and access is priced before you get the quote.

Do you charge extra for travel?
No. Inside this service area the price is worked out the same way as in Oakville, and the written quote lists every cost.
Is a Toronto job priced higher than one in Oakville?
The ranges are the same. What changes a downtown quote is access: a semi with no side yard means scaffold on a narrow lot and material carried in by hand.
